This little kitty was dumped off on my sister a few days ago. he does not belong to the neighbors. they already checked. He is so skinny, that you can see, and feel every bone in his body. I think he is around 4 months. Id like to find him a good home, and I am located in lower southwest michigan. Right now he is temp in my dogs crate(hence the dog hair loaded blanket, and why he looks like he is in kitty prison). I got him started on fancy feast canned food, to get him hydrated, and get some weight on him. & got a litter box in there with him. AC don't take cats, and all the rescues are full.

Introducing a new cat to a resident cat?

My husband and I recently lost one of our two cats to feline lymphoma. :(

Our other cat doesn't seem to be grieving for him (she's eating and behaving normally), but since she's never been an only kitty until now, I'm wondering if it might be good for her to have another kitty companion, especially once I go back to work in the fall (I teach, so right now I'm home for the summer). And admittedly, I would like another cat (I miss my boy....).

Does anyone have any suggestions for introducing a new cat to a resident cat? Just about all of the books I've read on the subject suggest having a "sanctuary room" for the new cat, and going slowly and being patient with the introductions. I've also read that adult cats are more likely to accept kittens or adolescents than other adults; my husband has suggested getting a cat who's younger and smaller than our resident kitty, so she can be in charge this time (her brother was our first cat, and was bigger and stronger than she while he was well, so he was "top cat").

Our resident kitty is a spayed female domestic longhair, about ten years old now, and not aggressive. She also seems to like being social (she'll groom people and the occasional stuffed animal or cat toy, and did the same to her brother - when he allowed it). We adopted her as a kitten (as a companion for her brother, interestingly enough).

Spraying question

I just adopted an approximately 8 month old former stray, who was rescued by a friend. He is unneutered (for another 2 weeks, anyway) and he's been spraying. I have one other cat. I got all the usual stuff: mini black light to find the mess, Nature's Miracle to clean it, and Feliway to stop him from spraying in the first place. The problem is I still can't find where he's been spraying. I looked everywhere... I even moved all the furniture. I can definitely smell it, and it's driving me crazy! So, how do you find cat messes when the black light method fails? Or should I just wipe everything with Nature's Miracle and hope for the best?

Here is a picture of the little guy, Puff, doing his best kitty yoga:

New cat

Had to take in my grandmas cat last night. She got sick from the heat last week, and had to go to a nursing home on monday. We tried placing her in rescues, and with family friends. everyone was full of cats. I figured the rescues would be anyhow. :( Since we did all we could to find someone we decided to keep her anyhow. She is a one person cat, and runs from people she doesn't know. the only one she went to was my grandma. I had to chase her into a live trap last night in order to get her. We were given till the weekend to get her out of house, and I had to remove her asap. Poor thing is pretty traumatized from being caught and moved. Right now she is in my bedroom with me, in a medium sized dog kennel I set up for her. One of the rescues I contacted was very helpful and said she would be OK in one for awhile until she gets used to us. I am worried that she may not eat. Though I went and bought her favorite food. She even turned her nose up at tuna! I replaced the pillow with a soft toy cat bed she can hide in.

Meet missy, my new 12 year old calico.

M grandma misses her like crazy, and is very glad that I ended up keeping her. She knows she will be in a good home. :)I got her for my grandma as a gift, when she was just a kitten. my grandpa had died, she was lonely, and wanted a calico cat. A coworker's cats had a bunch of kittens at the time. So I went and picked her kitty out for her. i wish she could have her where she is at now. :( I might take her in to visit her if she ever settles down, and adjusts to her new home.

need help.

I recently adopted a cat who has an unidentifiable skin condition. (the vet and I think it is keratin related) Her fur is growing back, finally, after a batch of steroids to get rid of the skin yeast infection, a switch to a raw diet, and a special medicated shampoo, but I canNOT find any sort of collar for her that wont rub her fur off at the neck. Ive tried the generic cotton ones, the ultra lightweight neoprene, and even a small rounded leather collar, but have not had any luck. It also doesnt help that she is so tiny, only about 6 and a half pounds, so I need something lightweight as well.

She is an indoor cat, but I am super paranoid about accidental escapes or other unforseen possibile scenarios, and, despite the fact that my cats are all microchipped, they still must have collars with tags on them at all times, or I just cant sleep at night. Does anyone have any suggestions?

My cat has an incurable form of cancer, called multiple myeloma. It's a cacner of the bone marrow, and one of the symptoms is anemia.

I noticed just a few minutes ago that she was taking a bit of a nibble out of a litter box. (with little to no soilings.. just straight litter)

I know that this can sometimes happen for cats with anemia. (I use Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract clumping, btw.)

I feed both of my cats a store bought raw diet. (At the moment they are on Primal, but when this bag runs out, I will be switching them to Nature's Variety)

In the short time she has left, is there anything I can do to keep her from eating the litter? I read it can actually leech vital nutrients from her system, which will certainly shorten her lifespan even more. (Is it still believed that clumping litter can cause obstructions? Didn't that get debunked and it now only applies to kittens?)

I finally got my Hemingway Polydactyl! Meet Zoe!!

This is our new baby Zoe. She is a little (crosseyed) Hemingway Polydactyl Siamese mix.
I have ALWAYS wanted THIS particular kitty, as soon as I met her years ago, I just fell in love. I had been asking for her for years, and now my dream has come true!!
Originally, she was my fiance's sister's, but she couldn't keep her anymore, and so she gave her to a lady she worked with, but her meds reacted badly and now she has an allergy to her. The lady gave Zoe back to my future sis in law, and she called my fiance the other day asking if we could take her. Since our kitty Squeakers passed away about 3 weeks ago, the house has been pretty quiet, and the other 6 kitties hadn't been the same, so since we had room, we said yes!!

She's been with us since Friday and the first day, she went haywire, hissing at the cats, etc., not eating, and being mean. We've given her time to get used to our place, and showed her the litterboxes, and she seems to have calmed down and is getting along better with the other kitties, and they are adjusting to her. She's a very vocal, warm, sweet girl and i'm so happy to have her after all this time!!
